The author has come to conclusion that one of the major factors of growth of the population and increasing ratio of the Russians in its structure was the result of the policy of industrialization led in the USSR in 1930s. The famine and reprisals of 1930s had no essential influence on changes of population in the region which was not reduced like in the other regions of Ukraine but increased on the contrary.
