The theoretical generalization and new solution of the scientific problem of the essence and criminal-legal significance of the extreme mental disturbance condition is carried out in this research. The criminal-legal and psychological aspect of the investigated concept are emphasized in this work, their content is determined, on their basis the concept of extreme mental disturbance is worked out, the significance of this condition as constituent evidence of corpus delicti and circumstances which lighten punishment are differentiated, and also the range of socially dangerous acts, for the commitment of which in such condition criminal liability is applied, is determined. The line of statements directed at the further development of the criminal-legal science, the improvement of quality of the criminal-legal relations regulation connected with the commitment by a person in the condition of extreme mental disturbance of criminal unlawful actions and clarification of the valid resolutions of Ukraine’s Supreme Court Plenum is discussed.
