an optimum emotional contact. Such women estimate inadequately their role in the family and overestimate their personal importance within the system of family relations. A lack of correlation of the level of appraisal of family performance and the factor of the residence of a woman in her own family or in a family of her adult child has been revealed. The factor of the duration of a disease also has no statistical value with respect to the estimation of the family environment by mentally handicapped women. This can be explained, firstly, by the fact that each person, including that with schizophrenia (regardless of the effects of a schizophrenic disorder), has a deep family archetype, and secondly, the group of patients has been selected with a substantial regard to their intellectual and emotional features. A comparative analysis of parental attitudes in the families of mentally handicapped and healthy women has been performed. The determination of safe components of psychic activity, personal features, aptitudes and likes of patients, the formation of a clear view of the disease in patients and the determination of the affections and preferences within family relations shall make it possible to increase the efficacy of the treatment substantially, reduce the incidence of recurrences of the disease, optimize the methods for psychic correction and reduce the negative effect of mother's psychosis on the members of her family, in particular, her children.
